I wanted to give her some awesome shots of Chalynn ('cause it's rare that she ever takes a good natural picture). Family (those who know Chalynn)... am I right?! ;) Anyways, there are LOTS more to come, but I thought this shot would be a fun teaser till the rest are ready!

Cruz - Southeast Idaho Children's Photographer

This little stud gave me quite the workout! His parents wanted to re-create an old painting of a naked baby holding a rattle that was in their house (the picture was so cute) but I could tell that Cruz was going to give us a bit of trouble when it came to the holding still part (what one year old doesn't?). Oh well, we attempted the re-creation of the painting and got a couple good shots. It didn't last long though, and Cruz was set free to play with all his toys while I took pictures. Lucky kid. ;) I'm totally in love with the shots I got, and I hope that his parents are too! Aren't Cruz's eyelashes to die for?! Yummy! Enjoy Lisa & Mike! Sorry I'm so behind! Argh. Computers. Can't live with them, can't live without them. Definitely CAN'T live without them! I have a strong love HATE relationship with mine. Josh is totally wiping ours clear right now, and re-installing everything - program by program. It's gonna take awhile. A long LONG while. For now, I can't work on my pictures... and that is almost as bad a death. No... not really... maybe. I have my old decrepit laptop from college for now and it will do for cruising the internet, and writing on my blogs. But it's totally NOT enough. I can't do pictures... and this laptop is so slow! It isn't compatible with my Photoshop programs, and that totally sucks. :( So sad.
If I had the money... I'd buy me (I wouldn't let ANYONE else touch it) a new computer. Possibly a Mac. I know, I know - yuck. But THEY don't get viruses! And that might just be worth it. Maybe. {sigh} I need a new computer. {long sigh} I need money. ;)
This is the picture I have on the desktop of the laptop. It is one of my ALL time FAVORITE pictures. Not just of Alli, but EVER. I swear, her eyes just pierce my soul. Love that little girl. This is SOOC (straight out of camera (read: no editing)) from my 35 mm (film) camera back when Alli was 7 or 8 months old. Crazy to think that there was ever a time when she couldn't back talk or sass me. Wow. What must've that been like? ;)
So, anyways, if anyone is wondering where I've been lately... Crazy-ville, that's where. And I don't plan on returning anytime soon. Sorry. Care to join me? It's kinda lonely here. And, well... crazy! I could use the company. We'd have fun. Promise.

The people who create them should be hung upsidedown in the streets and horse-whipped. In a place where everyone can spit on them, and poke them with sticks. Seriously. I'd be first in line! I mean, don't you have anything better to do with your time than create problems for other people!? Argh.

I know, I know.... ANOTHER post with no fun pictures. Believe me, I am trying to get to that! Trying being the operative word here. The stupid disk drive on my stupid computer is not wanting to work at all, in any way shape or form (stupid computers) and so I am having a heck of a time trying to finish up all my past shoots! Argh. Very frustrating. Very.

So, like Phoebe from "Friends" once said... if you want your pictures faster, send me money so I can buy some functioning equipment! ;) (except Phoebe said something about if people wanted her to email them about her upcoming shows, then they should give her money so she could buy a computer) HAHAHA! I used to love that show... good times. Hmmm... anyways... jokes people. Jokes. Hopefully I'll be posting some stuff for you asap.

Just letting everyone know that I'm going to be changing some of my prices this weekend. If you book a shoot now, you can reserve the current pricing. I swear, this gorgeous beauty walked straight out of the 1950's. Which just happened to be PUR-FECT for our setting. Because she was so close to getting married, I wanted to do Courtney's bridals indoors, and downtown Tacoma's Union Station was just the place. I had a blast with Courtney. She was the perfect model, and would do exactly what I wanted without me even having to say it! I think she has ESP! ;)Her pictures just screamed vintage - so I used Pioneer Woman's "Vintage" Action.

Justine's Sneak Peek - Southeast Idaho Bridal Photographer

This had to be just about my BEST idea ever! Seriously. At the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquariam there is this way cool carousel, and I thought that it would be better than awesome if I could shoot some bridals there. Let me tell you, I was DEAD on! It was so much fun! My sister borrowed her friend's dress (which happened to fit her swimmingly) and I made her a super long veil and we trecked out to the carousel and shot away. Yeah, Neen's already married - but she fit the set-up to a friggin' T! Her smile, her face, her favorite colors... just everything about her went with the carousel theme. It was SO much fun. I just wish that we could have spent more time there. Oh well, there's ALWAYS next time... right Neen?! Thanks so much Sisser for being such an excellent model!

I'm back

I coasted into the driveway last night (this morning) at 12:20 am. It was an OK drive. Just OK. The kids cut me some slack for the first half of the drive, which was great. But then, well, hell washed over my children and through me car like a scorned lover. There was no stopping it. It was relentless. Kids were crying, Mom (I) was yelling and tired, the dvd player was giving me fits, snacks were no longer working, and Chalynn was patiently surviving. Poor girl. Oh, did I not mention that Chalynn has come to stay with me for a couple weeks?! I'm SO excited. We're going to have a BLAST!
There's tons to do with my pictures, and I can't wait to get started! Seriously, I'm chomping at the bit. But first I have to tackle the pile of crap from the car/trip that's taking noticeable residence in the middle of my living room (seriously, how did I get all of that into my car?). Otherwise, Josh might be pretty mad with me when he gets home tonight.
One more thing... I have a BRAND NEW BATHROOM and I am totally in love with it! I even took a shower at 1 am this morning to soak in it's beauty! My husband is amazing. No doubt about it. I'll share pictures later.

Hey Readers! Just thought I would let you know that I've got some fun stuff to show you soon. As you know I've been at my parents (in Washington) without my beloved photoshop. I've had to depend on a trial download that's been crapping out on me, and so I haven't been doing as much post editing as I would have liked. That said, I have tons to do once I'm back in little ol' Idaho - and I am so excited! I've got a couple bridal shoots to share, and a wedding! WAHOO! I got some A-MAZE-ING shots that I can't wait to share. It's gonna be GREAT! Well, I've got to get to sleep. I've got a 14 hour long drive ahead of me tomorrow. Lindsey - High School Senior Photographer

Ok... I cannot tell you enough how cute this girl is! She is AWESOME! I'll bet you didn't know that she's been to Ghana volunteering... yes, THAT Ghana (as in Africa)! Isn't that nuts?! I've never even been off of the North American Continent (Hawaii doesn't really count 'cause it isn't even leaving the country) And I've only left the U.S. to go to Canada (ya-friggin-hoo).

My camera just LOVED this girl (and I did too)! Her porcelin skin is absolutely yummy! I had to narrow down my 100 favorite pictures to just my tippity top favorites, and I could only knock it down to 10 (and it was VERY painful). I just couldn't cut anymore than that. Sorry... you'll just have to learn to deal with a lot of pictures. Lindsey is a natural model. Oh my goodness... and boy was she ever fun to shoot! I had a blast! Thanks again Lindsey! I hope you love your pictures. To my readers (esp. the closet ones), let me know what you think! I LOVE them, and I love hearing when you like them too! ;)

Don, Dawn & Chalynn - Family Photographer

Here are the pictures I was telling you about earlier. My Mom wanted to have family pictures on the beach, so she took us to a cool little place that has an awesome view of the old and new Narrows Bridges. It was a beautiful day, and we had fun trying to shoot in the sun. I didn't have an assistant to hold any of my equipment (Alli just doesn't cut it) and so I didn't have many ways to block the sun and make artificial shade (sorry mom, dad and chalynn). Regardless of the sun just shinning away, I think we got some awesome shots. Well, at least I think so (my mom doesn't - I knew she's always hated my work) ;) No, really... she's just uber-picky (and overly critical) about certain things (i.e.: her looks).

Oh, yeah... I feel like I need to mention that my sister, Chalynn (in pink obviously) is developmentally delayed. Which is why I said in a previous post that it is hard to get her to smile naturally for the camera. It was a lot of fun trying... but it was all in vain. When she doesn't try, Chalynn is gorgeous, and has a great natural smile. The trick is capturing it on film. As soon as you put a camera in front of her, *boom* she goes goofy! Oh, but I love her anyways. Chalynn is such an awesome girl, and my life just wouldn't be complete without her! Love you Ling!

My Mom!

I have to say that I have THE best Mom in the whole wide world. She is the absolute greatest! Besides being an awesome mom, she is an amazing friend! There isn't anything that I can't go to her about. She's always there to help me, or to listen, or to offer advice. I am eternally grateful for her... honestly. I don't know what I would've done, or would do, without her! She is the greatest. There's isn't anyone who doesn't like her! Even my girlfriends and boyfriends in High School would ask her for advice on things. My main goal in life is to be like her. Really Mom, it is. You are the best example of what a mom should be! Thanks for everything (both past, present and future - cause I know it's coming).

I took family pictures the other day and I love this shot that I took of my Mom. I think that it shows who she is. Patient, kind, loving, honest (I could go on and on). My mom hates this picture, and is probably t.o.'d that I'm even sharing it with you. Oh well. She'll get over it, right?! Mom... Mom, you still love me, right?!

I had the chance to take pictures for my Mom, Dad and sister the other day. Well, that was quite an experience, let me tell you. Both my sister and Dad have a hard time in front of the camera, but both for very different reasons. Dad has a hard time being serious long enough to take one picture and he can't keep his eyes looking at the camera, and Chalynn has a hard time smiling naturally. There's just no getting around it. I'll post those when I get to them. But for now, I just had to share the one shot of my mom.

Kaelin - Bridal & Wedding Photographer

I've been a busy girl today! Two shoots back to back... I'm so lucky! I'm shooting Kaelin's wedding later this summer, and I'm up in Washington to shoot her brother's wedding this weekend. Kaelin was AWESOME to photograph! I was already at Owen's Beach (in Tacoma) for Mia's shoot (see previous post) and thought it would be an awesome place to do a bridal shoot. Boy, was I right! But let's face it, I'm NEVER EVER wrong (right Josh!?) ;) HAHAHA! K was a breeze to shoot. It was pretty quick and painless. No one was hurt, and there were no tears. ;) I had a blast, and got some A-MAZE-ING shots (in my own opinion). Speaking of opinions, I'd really like to hear what you guys/gals think. Fun with Actions!

I love Photoshop Actions. But believe it or not, I hardly ever use them! I'm a pretty simple gal when it comes to that. As I was going through the pictures I took of Kj and her sis on the beach today, I thought that they were just screaming for some Action-loving! So, I played with them. I used the same couple of actions on each of them because if Kj wants to print them then they will all coordinate. I'm weird like that ;) Don't they look awesome!?

I messed around with several combinations until I found ones that totally worked with eachother. LOVE IT! Oh, and seriously, aren't they gorgeous!? Holy cow!

It's the greatest thing since sliced bread! Honest. You can whiten & fix teeth, trim your waistline, brighten your eyes, remove pimples/blackheads... really, the possibilites are endless! Take the following pictures of myself for example. The top picture (the before) is straight out of the camera (SOOC) and UNedited. The bottom shot (the after) is tons better thanks to the miracle that IS Photoshop! :)

Photoshop shouldn't be your crutch. As I once heard, "Garbage in, is garbage out." Honestly, I LOVE that quote. Every time my finger snaps the shutter button, you can bet your bottom I'm thinking about that quote!

You can't make a bad picture good. Not really. Bad is bad, but Photoshop can help it be better. Photoshop can make a good picture great, and a great picture amazing! That said, it's better to make your shots as good as possible from the beginning, unless you actually enjoy spending hours sitting in front of the computer. Yuck. My eyes and neck hurt just thinking about it.

How did I fix my picture? Well, I cloned out the tiny chip on my tooth, removed some scars and a couple moles, brightened the overall photo, whitened my teeth a bit, darkened my hair, reduced the bags/black circles under my eyes, enhanced my eyes, and boosted the colors. It isn't great, but SO much better than the original. I just wish that Photoshop was able to fix reality, not still images. Bummer. Oh well... one day. One day.

P.S. Thanks to my lovely assistant, Alli, for taking my picture so I could do this post. She is absolutley wonderful! And even better, she works for gumballs - literally! ;)

How to do your OWN signature!

First you have to have your signature turned into a jpeg and have it hosted on a site like Photobucket. You have to make sure it's a pretty small picture. Mine is 300 by 150 pixels (1 inch by 1/2 an inch). I just used Photoshop.

Once you download the photo to Photobucket, they will give you several different codes for each picture: email & im, direct link, HTML code (which is what you need), IMG code, and Flash code. Copy the HTML code and then go to your blog's dashboard. Click on the "Layout" tab. Then click on "Settings" and then "Formatting". Scroll all the way to the bottom, and you'll see "Post Template" with an empty box next to it. Now, all you gotta do is paste your html code into that box! That's it! Simple, simple, simple (once you know how to do it). ;) Good luck and if you want me to help you design a signature (to see one I've already done, click here), or can't figure out how to do it, then give me a buzz!

Here's my version of their "Cutie Pie":

This is how I did it: (using Photoshop CS3)
1. I adjusted the levels to make it a little lighter
2. I added a warm photo filter (20% opacity)
3. I used Pioneer Woman's Boost Action at 50%
4. I enhanced and sharpened the eyes just a touch
5. I used the healing brush tool to fix her dry lips
6. I added a dewey glow using one of my own actions
7. Turned it black and white (with a warm tint) because I still wasn't happy with the coloring
8. Lastly, I cropped and flipped the picture just to give it a new look

The eyes are a little "too done" but I didn't notice until I'd already saved it, and I'm too lazy to start it over! ;) Just imagine that they aren't so bright! ;) HAHAHA!

Well, kinda. These pictures were totally taken by my little Alli-gator. I have to admit she did a rather good job (she can't control the appearance of her subject anymore than I can - too bad I didn't know I'd be having my picture taken yesterday; I might have actually cleaned up a little). Alli was fully incharge of the "shoot". I let her tell me how to pose and everything! Bubs even joined in on the fun. But as you can see from the picture, he wanted to be taking the pictures as well (and that's where I had to put my foot down). I'm thinking that Alli is going to get her own digital camera (just a cheapy) for her birthday this year. That way, I don't have to hyperventilate every time I hand over mine! ;)

Texture Tutorial

I have recently become obsessed with textures. I'm always on the look-out for something that is rusty, peeling, cracked, bumpy, whatever. Saturday, I left the kids with Josh, and went on a little drive along the streets just outside of my development. I was on the prowl. I wanted to get some pictures for, well, my pictures. Here's what I mean: The difference is subtle, but if you pay close attention to the background, you will see what I mean. The texture added some fun new color, and, well for lack of a better word: texture! So, when I went out Saturday, these are the textures I "picked up":If you have Photoshop, adding texture to your photos is easy! You can find free textures all over the web, and even more fun: you can "make" your own!

Here's how I do it:

1. first take a picture of a fun texture (I took pictures of gravel, hay, peeling wallpaper, rusty barrells etc.)

2. find a picture that you want to play around with and add texture to

3. In photoshop, open both your photo and your texture

4. drag your texture on top of your photo

5. line them up properly so that the texture completlely covers the original

6.turn your texture layer into an overlay

7.turn the texture overlay into a layer mask

8.using your paintbrush, paint over the areas on your photo where you don't want texture
9. change the opacity to whatever you want. I usually use a low opacity. Enough where there is a difference, but not enough where it's totally obvious. Does that make sense?

Here's my original (isn't Kacey GORGEOUS?):

Now, let's begin! Open up Photoshop (I use CS3) and then open your picture and your texture. Your Photoshop desktop should look something like this (only, with your pictures - not mine):

Now, drag and drop your texture over the top of your picture, like this:Make sure to center the texture over your original picture, like this:Now turn that texture layer into an overlay like so:See how the texture has become transparent? But, Kacey looks like she has some sort of disease, so we need to fix that. I'll show you how. First, we need to make that texture layer into a layer mask. See in the bottom of the picture where the hand/mouse is over the top of a picture of a black rectangle with a white circle? Yeah. Click on that.Then you will see something like this next to your texture, in the layers:See how my layer mask is white? Good. Well, if your layer mask is white, then paint in black to get rid of the texture. If it's black, paint in white. Understand? Me either!Using your black (in my case) paintbrush, paint over the areas of the photo you want to erase (making sure your texture layer is still highlighted in blue - like mine). You should end up with a healthy looking subject. Kacey is one HOT mama! Now, say that I accidently erased more than I wanted to, like this:Oops. I totally didn't mean to do that! ;) Oh well, it's super SUPER easy to fix. Let me show you!First switch your paintbursh color to the same color as your layer mask (mine is white), and then all you have to do is paint over the area you accidently erased! Viola! SO easy!Now, back to the picture. See how Kacey is disease free, but the texture is just too much? Well, all you gotta do is lower the opacity of the texture layer.I lowered mine until it was at about 38%. And this is what I ended up with:
So, that's it. Make sure to flatten your image and then save. Yipee! Now you can be an addict as well! Wahoo! It won't just be me anymore. Be sure to share your experiments with me!

In celebration of the new baby boy in my life (I don't care if Mack isn't mine... I still love him like he is) and the pictures I was able to capture of him as he came into this world, I am going to start offering a "Special Delivery" Package. I think that this is going to be so much fun. If I'm not having a baby right now, I might as well live vicariously through those who are, right!? ;)

Makio is here! FINALLY! After waiting ALL night for him, Mack made his entrance into this world around 7:00 am this morning! I wasn't paying much attention to the exact time - I was a little preoccupied... you know... taking pictures and all that!? Hehehe! ;)

Kacey asked me to take pictures for her during the delivery - and how in the heck could I say no to that!? Oh, believe you me... I couldn't! Let's just say... IT WAS THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER! What an amazing thing to witness... new life entering into the world. Wow. Anyone who knows me well can bet (and be confident in that bet) that I was crying like a baby! (HA - no pun intended!) It was such a special experience - there just aren't words to describe it. It's something that I am sure to remember for the rest of my life. Thanks so much Kacey, for sharing such an awesome thing with me! You are an amazing woman & I am so glad to be your friend!

Baby Mack is such a CUTE boy (& check out all that hair - I am WAY SO jealous )! I LOVE him so much already! Can you imagine what his parents must think of him!? Dad is overjoyed - Mack being his first boy and all! There's just something about that first boy. I took TONS of pictures of the delivery and the moments right after of the baby and his parents. I've had a couple people ask me where I got the background, so I'll let you in on my secret, IF you promise not to tell anyone. Promise?! Are you sure? This is very serious. Very. I get my backgrounds from the Home Fabrics store! That's right. It's just upholstery fabric. Neat-o, huh!? I buy the stuff that is on sale, several yards at a time. It's pretty cheap, and is SO much fun! The colors are just awesome. LOVE it! Like my sister Chalynn would say, "bad habit". :) But it feels oh so good!

Anyways, back to the pictures. Aren't they so much fun?! I had a blast taking them, and I think that they turned out just fabulous and they totally show off my nephews personalities! Like I said before, this was in my friend, Kacey's studio. I'm not used to doing studio work. The lighting is crazy to figure out sometimes. It's hard using unfamiliar equipment, and a different camera than my own. Regardless, I think that I got some awesome shots and I hope that the family is very happy with the results. They decided that they wanted a vertical announcement, and different pictures, but Mom and Dad liked the colors and tones of the first announcement. So, this is what I created for them. I hope they love it! Also, I wanted to share some of my favorite pictures from the session.

It's that time again. I gotta tell you... I LOVE doing this! It's so much fun! It really is. Anyways, here's the original alongside my version:

Here's what I did (using photoshop):

-I adjusted the levels (to make it lighter)

-boosted the colors and lighting

-added a warm photo filter (just a tad)

-sharpened and brightened the eyes

-cropped to my liking

-turned a warm black and white

-added a "Dewey Glow" (one of my own actions)

And vio-la! A "masterpiece"... well, a strong attempt anyways! ;)

Who would have thought that I could get some way cute pictures at the Cub Scout's Pinewood Derby!? Not me, certainly. But, I sure did. I don't have a boy old enough for cub scouts (yet), but I'm the assistant den leader for the Bears. So I had the opportunity to attend the derby a couple weeks ago and of course I brought my good 'ol camera. I took tons of pictures, but my favorites are of the kids. And aren't these three babes super cute!?

This little guy is so cute! He didn't like being naked though - or being put down by himself. Tanner totally knows how to work the system! ;) I got this shoot from one of my best friends, Kacey, of Brag Book Photography . She is about to have a baby any day now, and so she asked if I'd take over the shoot for her. My reaction?! "NO problaymo sista!"

Can you believe that Tanner's Mom had him only 5 days ago!? That's just crazy! Lucky her to be up and moving so soon after a delivery. I'm usually laid up for a good two weeks or so. Not really, but I want to be! My kids wouldn't allow it. Darn it.

As I mentioned earlier, I got to spend a few hours with Brooke Snow on an actual factual shoot! IT was AMAZING and only made my passion for photography multiply exponentially! (wow - that's a "smart" word!). Brooke totally helped fuel my love and lust for the art, and I can't wait until I'm HUGE, and doing this all day, EVERY day! ;) One day... one day.

Anyways, the whole reason for this post. Go to Brooke Snow's Photography blog here and check out the shoot I "assisted" with. Really all I did was carry their coats and the camera bag a few times, and trip over my dragging, drooling tounge! Also, I was behind the veil "flying in the breeze" shots. Not meaning they were my ideas (that was Brooke's genius), but I was doing the labor behind the shots. In the red doorway shot, I was off just camera shaking the crap out of the veil (not really, but the bride probably thought so ;) and the picture of the bride against the brick wall was me tossing the veil up and then running backwards as fast as possible! Oh yeah, I did help find some of the books used in the library shots too (I'm such a good little helper ;). It was a kick in the pants good time! I'm totally in LOVE!

Have you already had your pictures taken and you don't like them? Do you still need them taken, and want it done for FREE?! Listen up... this is for you!

Alrighty people. I've come up with an awesome creative venture for my business. I am way excited about it, but I need some help! I am looking for some willing "models" that fit into these categories:

1. newborns (up to 2 weeks old)
2. high school seniors (2 boys and 2 girls)
3. engaged (or "on their way") couples
4. married couples that have their OWN wedding attire (gown and tux)
5. brides (just married and have your own dress, or soon-to-be and don't mind getting a little dirty (your dress can be cleaned! ;))
6. pregnant women atleast 32 weeks along or more

If you help me out, here's what I expect:
-I need you to send me a current picture before you are considered
-I will suggest things to wear or styles that I want conveyed in my pictures
-I need people who are willing to listen and do what I ask (don't worry, it's not anything that would be outside of ANYONE'S comfort zone

In return, here's what you'll get:
-A FREE cd of images we've taken during our session
-A signed copyright release allowing you to print the pictures where/how you want
-An hour of fun and total and complete attention from "yours truly" (that would be me)

So, I've re-redesigned my business card! It's way cool and I am loving it. It's very basic, but timeless (something I learned from the workshop this weekend). Anyways, I like it. I LOVE it! I want some more of it... (name that song)! They should be here in about a week... so I'm WAY excited for them. I've been dreaming of that moment for so long now... opening a brand new box of AWESOME business cards - with MY NAME on them. Oh my, I think I might faint!! {deep breaths} {in-out-in-out} There. I'm better now... until I start thinking about my new cards coming... I don't have the patience for this! Waiting is NOT my forte! So, if I have to wait, then so do you. I'll show you when i get them in the mail... maybe... if I can wait that long!

This weekend I got an awesome opportunity to learn from Brooke Snow (Brooke Snow Photography) in Salt Lake City. She is the absolute best! Brooke is so helpful, and wants to share her success tips with everyone! It's so encouraging to know that there are photographers out there who want the 'little guys' (aka: ME) to be successful as well. WAHOO! Friday night I went to her Business Workshop and it was FABULOUS! I learned SO much! Then I got the chance to tag along with her for one of her shoots on Saturday. Holy cow... let me just say that I had the time of my life! It was so much fun! I wish I would have taken a minute to take a picture or two, but alas, I did not (stupid stupid stupid). But I will definitely tell y'all when Brooke posts the pictures from her shoot Saturday.

My Best Frenemy!

I hate this stuff! Ok, not really. I LOVE it! I blame it on my last pregnancy (that stinkin' little Blake). I used to love LOVE water. It was all I would drink. I HATE juice (still do) but would drink pop every once and a while. Like when we went out to eat or some special thing like that. But during my pregnancy with Blake, pop (specifically Dr. Pepper or any generic version) was all I wanted. Water made me gag! Literally. Now, I only like the diet stuff. The regular crap is WAY too sweet for me & that makes me want to puke. Yuck. So, diet it is, and probably more than any one person should ever drink. What's my problem!? HELP!

Ok, I do have to clarify - I drink my 8-10 glasses of water a day. I really do. But, then I have a pop or two as well! So don't you worry about me... I'm well hydrated, & spending TONS on toilet paper as well! ;) (That's why I'm drinking generic now) No, not really.

I just can't kick the addiction man. I just GOTTA have it!

Alright guys (and gals) I'm going to cut it to you straight... I'm bored. Flat out B-O-R-E-D! Doesn't anyone want their pictures taken? Or know of anyone who wants their pictures taken? Things slow WAY down in the winter time. I need something to do people. Help a sister out! ;)

On the plus side, I've finally finalized my business card design (front & back). I'm so excited! Now if I could get the stupid thing to load onto the website properly. For some reason, my dimensions and the printer's (website) dimensions, although the same exact measurements, aren't matching up. It's VERY frustrating. Anyone know of a reasonable place to get your cards printed up at? I want to get this done ASAP! Argh. OH wait... I have an idea. Let me get back to you...

In the mean time... what do you think about my "new" business card? Pretty snazzy, huh!? ;)

Icicles In the Morning - Southeast Idaho Photographer

I hate the cold & the snow, but I love
icicles.

They are so pretty! Yesterday it warmed up some, so the snow melted off the roof and formed a long row of icicles along the back of our home. So, with nothing to do this morning (I'd already started some laundry & the kids were happy - I guess I could have done thd dishes, but YUCK! ;) I grabbed my camera and started snapping away. But guess what?! It's frickin' COLD outside! Dang! I nearly couldn't get my fingers to move after taking only 4 pictures. And what's 4 pictures? Nothing, that's what. I was pretty bummed. Granted, I did only go out in my pajamas... but still. :) I did get a good shot though. So, I guess it's all good.

Ty's healthy and strong. Born at 2:47 p.m. on Friday January 23rd, at a whoppin' 8 lbs 3 oz and 20 inches long. If you've ever seen Stephanie (his mommy) then you would understand what I mean when I say "What in the?!" ... she's so tiny that you would have never guessed it possible for her to carry such a big boy. ;)

P.S. I've posted the pictures with my watermark so that strangers on the web can't steal them. (There are some weirdos out there) But if you are family of this little sweetheart (granparent, aunt/uncle, whatever) then send me an email and I can send you a couple shots sans watermark.

Road Trip's a GO-GO!

Well, it's official. No going back on me now Julie! ;) I'll be in Washington for April 11th to shoot a wedding. I'm so excited! I'll be bringing the kids with me so that they can see their cousins, aunts and uncle, and grandparents. So, I'll definintley be staying for atleast a week. Which means that I am going to be available for some shoots up in Washington from around the 8th of April till sometime the following week. It's still too early to know. Cowboys - Southeast Idaho Children's Photographer

My little Blakey-man found his Dad's cowboy hat today (don't ask me why Josh has a cowboy hat - I've asked myself this many a time. I haven't a clue!), and he could not put it down. So, of course, I had to take pictures. He was so fun. Anytime I would look at the LCD screen on the camera to check my lighting in the shots, Blake would say "awwwwww... coote!" It was darling. Sometimes, believe it or not, I like to just take pictures of the things around me, like tree's and plants and stuff. (Wow... "stuff"... I sound reel ejukated and smart. Can't I think of a better word?! Yeesh!). A couple of mornings ago, I woke up to find a very thick fog outside. As was looking out the window I noticed that the trees were looking kinda fuzzy. Upon closer inspection I saw that they were covered in these cool little ice spikes. It was awesome. As the day warmed up, they just fell off of the tree like snow, and I haven't seen them since. They were so pretty, and I want them to come back so I can get a picture of them with my macro. Crazy Idaho weather.

When it wants to, Idaho can be gorgeous. Well, the sunsets anyways. Especially if the sky is cloud free. Then the colors the sunset produce are AMAZING! I'll have to try and capture an actual sunset for you all (all 4 of you ;). It's quite beautiful. The night that I took this I was a little preoccupied during the actual sunset, but I was able to free up a few minutes to snap this picture at dusk. Aren't the colors awesome? Sorry it's a little blurry because I didn't want to take the time to get my tripod out, incase I missed my shot. But all that matters is the color anyways. The sky went from an awesome royal blue to a peachy orangish color (yes, that's the technical term for it). Like I said before: gorgeous!

Me Ra Koh Photography Contest

Me Ra does a contest once a month, and every contest is based upon some sort of theme. This month the theme was "Simple Gifts" and this is the picture I submitted. She picks 5 finalists and then then blog readers vote on the winner. If (I should say WHEN (let's think positive here)) I make top 5, I'll let you all know so you can go vote for me (or who ever is your favorite(pick me... pick me!). The prizes are always something cool... like Adobe Lightroom and Me Ra's Educational Photography DVD's. I WANT them BAD! Both of them.

Anyways, back to the photo... does it evoke any sort of emotion for you? Could it win a contest? Should I quit my photography and stick to being a mom!? Let me know your opinions!

I get to babysitt this little man three days a week, while his mommy and daddy are at work. And I am LOVING it! He's such a cute little boy! And so much fun to take pictures of (I'm so lucky!). If only I could get my kids to back off of him long enough for me to take the shots that I really want. They are absolutely in love with this boy! I think it might be time to consider having another little baby... we'll see if Mason can help satisfy my baby hunger. Hubby, keep your fingers crossed! ;)

I've decided that I need to have a New Year's Resolution, as a photographer (and as a mom as well) to put up some pictures of my kids around the house! I have hundreds, and maybe even thousands of pictures of them on nearly just as many cd's... but I only have maybe, MAYBE, 4 pictures of them up around the house... and... oh, I can't believe that I am admitting to this....they are pictures from last summer. {gasp} OH the horror! I am so ashamed! It's true... it's true I tell you! Only four pictures, and from last summer to boot! I have all these cute pictures I've recently taken of my kids and I haven't done a thing with them. Are you like me?! Well, don't be! Get those pictures printed out and up on a wall, mantle, windowsill, whatever... STAT (I'll bet that you didn't know I'm fluent in Dr.nese)!

And if you are not like me, don't have tons of pictures, and need someone (who knows their way around a camera) to take some uber-cute pictures of your kids (or grandkids) for you... first, shame on you for not having any pictures of your little darlings to show off ;) and second, I'd be MORE than happy to help you remedy that! Just give me a call and we can set up an appointment asap!

Holiday Bokeh

Bokeh (bow-kay) (n.): a Japanese term used to describe the out-of-focus areas in a photograph.

I love LOVE having strong bokeh in my pictures. It's my "new thing" I guess you could say. I've always loved it, but I didn't have the equipment to do it exactly how I wanted before. My new lens helps me get some awesome Bokeh in my shots now & I am loving it! Another site I frequent (the Pioneer Woman) encouraged it's readers to capture some "Holiday Bokeh". So I thought I would share some of the shots I took.

These two are some of the cutest kids I've ever taken pictures of. Too bad they are also the worst kids I've ever taken pictures of! HA! Alli and Blake are monsters when it comes to taking pictures. All Alli wants to do is make funny faces and be goofy, and Blake doesn't want to sit still, at all. It's maddening to be a photographer and have kids who refuse to cooperate for the camera! Argh! Little stinkers. Oh well. ;)

Since the kids went to church today in their new Christmas outfits, I decided to take some pictures because it's very rare when they BOTH look so good! Josh bought me an AWESOME lens for Christmas so I decided to try it out as well. Let me tell you, I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Thanks Josh, you are awesome! Well, here are just several of the pictures we took: (Oh yeah, and thanks to Josh again for holding the reflector for me! He's such a doll!)
